Rattray’s Camp
within Mala Mala Private Game Reserve represents a classic “out of Africa”
safari experience.
The epitome of regal colonial safari-style, the newest addition to the Mala
Mala portfolio is a culmination of over 40 years of experience within the
Rattray Family.
Facilities within the main elegant building incorporate a viewing deck,
library, gym, safari boutique, an attractive bar showcasing the history of the
area, and an adjoining wine cellar stocked with a wide range of South Africa’s
best wines. Breakfast and lunch are served in the dining room or on the
adjoining deck whilst the traditional reed boma under a magnificent
jackalberry tree is the ultimate outdoor evening venue. Meals can also be
served in the privacy of your suite.
Each suite is decorated with hand-selected furnishings and has his-and-hers
bathrooms, a secluded outdoor shower, private heated plunge pool, veranda and
views of the river.
The focus of the Rattray’s safaris continues to reflect the ethos of the
reserve over the past forty years – game viewing. Sound conservation
management has ensured an environmental sanctuary for an impressive density
and diversity of wildlife. Sightings of the “Big Five” (elephant, lion,
leopard, buffalo and rhino) and the interactions of the various species
provides visitors with a glimpse of Africa as it has always been – untouched
by the human hand.
